2010 Tryouts 

Public tryouts for the 2010-2011 playing year will take place beginning 1 Jun 2010 (U-10/13) or 8 June 2010 (U14/19). All Academy parents may initiate contact on 18 May, and direct contact for U-13 begins on 18 May.  Direct contact for U-14/19 begins on 1 Jun.  All tryouts will be at Tophat Field. Gold, Navy and White teams will try out at the same time. The information following is provided to describe how Tophat teams are named and about Tophat's age policy. Also see:

Team Names

The numeric designation with each team indicates year of high school graduation. (See Age Policy). 

     • Gold teams are the most competitive and have a significant travel obligation.

     • Navy teams have a somewhat less travel requirement, but have a similar training requirement.

Age Policy

Tophat requires players to play in their age appropriate group. Players do not play up, with two exceptions. For college recruiting and team integrity reasons, Tophat strongly encourages high school age players who are a year ahead in school to play with the team with which they will graduate. Secondly, goalkeepers are infrequently assigned out of their normal age group.

Tryout Location

All Tophat tryouts take place at Tophat Field, 500 Fairfield Rd. in Northwest Atlanta. Go north on Northside Drive, turn left on Broadland Rd., which is about one mile after crossing West Paces Ferry on Northside Dr. Go about 200 yards and veer left on Fairfield Rd. Fields are on the left. See Map to Tophat Field.
